CF Carbons GmbH specializes in producing R 22 (chlorodifluoromethane), which it uses almost exclusively to make fluoropolymers, particularly those used in PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) formulations such as Dyneon® or Teflon®. Fluoropolymers are corrosion- and heat-resistant materials used to make household items, breathable clothing, process equipment that is exposed to aggressive chemicals, and dirt-repellent coatings for apparel and metals such as automotive rims. Besides R 22, CF Carbons GmbH also produces hydrochloric acid and aqueous hydrofluoric acid.
